First cut: continent and coverage

Use road side, visible language, landscape, road quality, and camera coverage to make the first cut. Even when the final country is unclear, removing impossible continents protects your score.

Second cut: country group

Think in groups: Nordics, Baltics, Balkans, Andes, Southern Africa, Southeast Asia, Iberia, Central Europe. Country groups are easier to recognize than isolated countries.

  • Nordics: road markings, forests, signs, clean infrastructure.
  • Andes: altitude, dry slopes, Spanish signs, road quality.
  • Balkans: plates, bollards, scripts, road texture.
  • Southeast Asia: driving side, scripts, tropical vegetation, road signs.

Final cut: safe placement

When unsure, place centrally inside the likely group. World rounds punish confident guesses on the wrong continent more than modest misses inside the right region.
